The Department of Science and Technology Food and Nutrition Research Institute (DOST-FNRI) said data collection for the last leg of the Expanded National Nutrition Survey (ENNS) which was called off due to coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic has already begun.

The DOST-FNRI said the field data collection is ongoing in the province of Tarlac.

After almost one year of postponement due to COVID-19, data collection for the last leg of the Expanded National Nutrition Survey (ENNS) has already started, the DOST-FNRI wrote on Facebook on Saturday, July 3.

DOST Secretary Fortunato Boy T. de la Pea said the National Nutrition Survey Team is composed of professionals and is expected to conduct face-to-face data collection in 19 municipalities in Tarlac and Tarlac City.

I am happy to have the opportunity for a meet-and-greet session with our Nutrition Survey Team from the Department of Science and Technology-Food and Nutrition Research Institute (DOST-FNRI), he said in a Facebook post.

Quoting DOST-FNRI Director Dr. Imelda Angeles-Agdeppa, he said the team is set to interview around 1,560 households in 19 municipalities in Tarlac including Tarlac City.

Tarlac is the first of the 37 provinces that they will cover this year, the DOST chief said.

He noted that as requested by the provincial government of Tarlac, the team underwent antigen testing and was required to obtain medical certificates and travel order before their deployment.

During its 74th founding anniversary celebration on Thursday, July 2, the DOST-FNRI said it will continue conducting the ENNS to look into the nutrition and nutritional health status of Filipinos.

This is the first face-to-face data collection to be resumed since the pandemic started, the DOST-FNRI wrote on Facebook on Thursday.
