Engelbert Humperdinck made a plea to his fans to spare their prayers for his wife Patricia, who has Covid and Alzheimer's.

The Spanish Eyes pop star, 84, shared his "heartbreaking" situation as Covid has had a "destructive" impact on his family at home.

In a piece to camera, Engelbert expressed his worries for his wife Patricia, who has been battling Alzheimer's for more than a decade.

The songwriter voiced his concerns because his wife wasn't eating or drinking after Covid "hit her pretty hard".

He said: Covid entered our home and its pretty destructive. It got to many members of my family including myself and my darling wife, and of course its been very heartbreaking because having her condition, it has made it rather impossible for medical staff.

Consequently its hit her pretty hard and shes not eating and drinking. I would ask you in all sincerity if theres any way that you could start a prayer around the world.

Im sure God will send the right message and the right angels and the right people over to put their hands on her. Please help with prayer. Thats the most important thing.

Reaching out to his fans, Engelbert urged a healer to get in touch with his family via Facetime.

He posted the video across his social media channels including Facebook and Instagram.

The chart-topping singer prayed for a "miracle" amid the "devastating" coronavirus pandemic.

He went on said: If theres someone out there who is a healer it would be wonderful. I know you cant visit but we can do a Facetime and that would be wonderful to help out.

During our prayers at around eight oclock every night at her bed we not only pray for her and members of our family but we also pray for those unfortunate ones who have been afflicted with this terrible plague around the world.

We incorporate everyone in our prayers. I want to say thank you to everyone for their prayers and I hope we can make a miracle happen. Please make it happen. God bless you all.

The married couple's bond remains stronger than ever.

Engelbert and Patricia's love story instantly took off when they met by chance on a night out in 1953.

Their marriage has spanned more than five decades after the couple tied the knot in 1964.

Last year, Engelbert opened up about the first time he ever laid eyes on his wife Patricia.

I met her on a dance floor, and weve been dancing together ever since, he told Closer Weekly magazine.

The old saying is that its love at first sight. She was my first real date when I danced with her that night, I asked her for a date the next day. I said, I wont marry you until I make a name for myself. I want to take care of you. I was a nobody and wanted to keep her comfortable."

Engelbert lifted the lid on managing Patricia's fight with Alzheimer's.

The singer turned to holistic medicine and acupuncture after his wife begun battling the disease.

He told the magazine: "I believe there is a cure that is being held up for some reason, so I decided to treat her with holistic medicine and acupuncture and a way of producing new stem cells. Its taking a lot of time, but its working. "

In 2019, Engelbert revealed it was a Christmas miracle when his wife said his name for the first time in three years.

He told us: "She hasnt spoken for three years, she even called my name three days ago which is wonderful to hear. Its the best Christmas miracle ever. Im thrilled."

The star, from Leicester, added: I really miss not being home for Christmas. Most of my family live there.

My wife cant get on a plane yet so until she can fly we will spend our Christmases in LA.
