Fertility and Women’s Health Acupuncturist Opens at Top Clinic Location – I Love the Upper West Side

Posted: October 28, 2020 at 11:56 am

Dr. Christine Palma has just opened her acupuncture and fertility coaching practice, Fire Over Water. Shes sharing a space with one of Manhattans top acupuncturists, Tabitha Silver, at 1270 Amsterdam Ave, between 122nd and 123rd Streets.

Dr. Palma is an Upper West Sider and is thrilled to be walking to work. I love this location. Its the best place to treat patients on both the Upper West Side and Northern Manhattan. I went to Columbia University and this is one of the best neighborhoods in all of NYC. Its amazing being close to so many diverse people and being exposed to an array of cultures on the Upper West Side, Morningside Heights, and Harlem. I truly appreciate being able to meet and help so many people from all walks of life.

After battling chronic work-related neck pain during her corporate engineering career, along with never-ending sports injuries, she began a holistic journey that led her to study traditional healing methods. Grateful for the healing she received and curious about its impact, she became a Doctor of Acupuncture while working as a full-time corporate professional. Dr. Palma graduated with a doctorate degree from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine and has since been working in NJ, mainly treating womens health and fertility issues.

The American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) illustrates how there is a global health disparity in infertility amongst ethnic, racial, and religious groups. While the creation of a family is a basic human right, evidence suggests that only a minority of the U.S. population has access to treatment, and the majority of those who do are white. Dr. Palma is Latina and strives to close the gap with minority access to care.

She states, It just upsets and angers me how so many women have taken out incredible amounts of debt for IUI and IVF and have nothing to show. These procedures are limited and cant fix bad egg or sperm quality. If you want the best possible outcome, I advise combining both eastern and western medicine.

Currently in New York, professional licensure in Acupuncture is the only legal requirement to practice Chinese Medicine. A board certification by the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine (ABORM) is considered the gold standard amongst fertility acupuncturists in North America. Fellows of ABORM demonstrate a higher level of specialization in Eastern and Western reproductive medicines. Christine is on track to be a fellow in early 2021, making her the 10th out of almost 5,000 NY acupuncturists to achieve this difficult standard.

After ten years of trying, I almost gave up. I didnt think Dr. Christine [Palma] was going to be able to help. Im now the mommy of a healthy 2-year-old

Christine also treats common womens health problems like PCOS, endometriosis, menopausal symptoms, thyroid disorders, fibromyalgia and all types of pain. There arent great drugs to help these problems and most people dont get 100% symptom relief from taking a drug alone. By combining your western treatments along with complimentary medicine, you can get better results.

Book an appointment with Dr. Palma to discuss your health goals and have her guide you along this important journey. Initial appointments with Christine are typically $160, but she is offering our readers who mention this article a $60 discount until the end of this year. All subsequent appointments are $100.

To book an appointment, please email Christine at info@fireoverwater.com. She can also be reached at (646) 627-4509.
